This week flew by (which is always great after a vacation!), so I can’t believe it’s time for some Five on Friday.
Here we go!
one. There’s nothing like a short work week, followed by another short work week! I am so glad Jeff and I both decided to take Monday off following our week-long family vacation. It got the kids back into a routine (preschool and daycare) and gave Mommy and Daddy and extra day to recuperate!
And now we have one 4 day work week followed by another 4 day work week.
Hallelujah for long weekends!
two. We had a fairly busy summer this year (which has been a bit unusual since it seems that since Brynn was born our social calendar came to a grinding halt! Ha!), but after looking at our family calendar, it looks like we have an even busier fall!
We have loads of birthday parties, family events, and other fun, fall festivities. Fall is my favorite, so I’m stoked for cooler days, apple cider, and basically anything outdoors that doesn’t involve 98% humidity and temperatures in the 80s).
three. Speaking of cooler days, I can’t wait to break out my favorite booties! I’ve snagged these from Land’s End in the past year or so, and I pretty much live in them until spring! The heel height is perfect (since I traditionally live in flats, I’m not a huge fan of sky-high heels), and they are soooo comfortable!
I have them in the Taupe suede (pictured below) and black leather. 🙂
Psst…I just checked and they have 25% off right now with code: GET25 and PIN: 9285! I do think their percentage off sales can be better (meaning, bigger savings), so you could try to hold out for a better deal. Just thought I’d mention the current sale in case anyone is interested!
four. I’m late to the party. I heard this week that the Target Dollar Spot had some super cute fall and Halloween décor. I went last night to check it out.
I picked up the below items, but I had been hoping for some of the cute fabric pumpkins I’ve seen pop up on my Instagram feed. 😉 Definitely a good haul though!
five. Seeing as how Halloween is less than 60 days away, I’ve started asking Brynn what she wants to be. She’ll say “yes” to a bunch of ideas I throw out, then sometime later, always comes back and says she “wants to be Sheriff Callie again.”
This is Brynn last year as Sheriff Callie (for those who don’t know Sheriff Callie is a show on Disney; it’s really about a cat who is a sheriff, but we sort of skipped the whole “cat” part of the costume!)
It was pretty easy and I got some cute stuff from Etsy (vest, belt, and bandana) to complete her costume (hat and boots were both from Target).
I’d love to re-use the items I got last year, so that’s definitely a win. I’ll have to just make sure they all still fit! We’ll definitely need new cowgirl boots, since she outgrew the pair from last year and I already got rid of them.
What I find hilarious about all this, is how obsessed she seems to be with Sheriff Callie! She even had a Sheriff Callie birthday party last year. But when we ask if she wants to watch it, or play with her Sheriff Callie toys, she’s totally uninterested!
Crazy kid! 😉
I haven’t even thought about Asher, yet, but I think that’s because I’m just going to put him in Brynn’s old pumpkin costume from when she was roughly the same age. She loves pumpkins at that age, so it seemed appropriate (especially since we had found out we were having a boy shortly beforehand; I figured we could easily reuse the gender-neutral costume a few years later!). 😉
And since I can’t resist a cute picture of my kid’s in Halloween costumes, here’s one of Brynn in the pumpkin costume:
And one of the both of them last year:
So how about all of you? Have you started decorating for fall yet? Thinking about Halloween yet?
I think I’m going to start with a few things this weekend since I’m itching to change some stuff up décor-wise! 🙂
