I feel like I blinked and suddenly May is nearly over! Seriously, how is it Memorial Day already? I really hope the summer doesn’t fly by as quickly as spring has!
It’s been a a while (again! oops!), so I wanted to give a brief update on life here lately.
Two weeks ago today, by brave 4.5 year old underwent her third surgery in her short life. My poor baby! This was her third set of ear tubes (she got the first at just over a year, and they had to be replaced when she was almost 2.5 – a mere 7 weeks after Asher was born – she also had her adenoids out during the second surgery). On top of the tubes, the main reason for the surgery was to get her tonsils out. 🙁
She’s been having trouble with her throat for a while (not sleeping well because her throat hurts, and the tonsils themselves were very enlarged).
This surgery was a bit different for us as well since Brynn definitely knew it was happening and that it probably wouldn’t be fun and might hurt a bit.
So we prepared by talking about what would happen, and especially made sure to mention all the popsicles she could eat afterwards! We also read Goodbye Tonsils (affiliate link) which was actually written by a little girl who had her tonsils out (and help from her dad!).
Here’s my brave girl before surgery:
The day of the surgery was one looooong day. We had to be there by 9am and the surgery wasn’t until 11:30. It took about an hour, then after a while in recovery, we finally got home around 4:30. We were all wiped!
We’re so happy that two weeks later Brynn is doing great! She actually went back to school last week and we’ve been ramping up for some end of Pre-K activities next month, but more on that on an upcoming post!
Oh and if anyone needs popsicles we still have about 3,000 in our basement freezer! I highly recommend the Jolly Rancher kind! 😉
