It’s been a while since I have posted, but what better way to come back than with a book review of another children’s book by the wonderful and sweet, Maria Ashworth? 🙂 I’ve been so fortunate to review two of her other books previously (here and here), so when she reached out with her book, My Big Tree, I didn’t hesitate!
Previously, Brynn and I have loved sharing Maria’s books and having special time together to read them. And now, it’s only gotten better, as Asher has joined in on our reading time!
My Big Tree tells the story of a little bird in “the best” tree, and how some visitors seem to keep showing up until the little bird has to find another tree.
This was truly the PERFECT book for both Brynn (edging in on 5 now!) and Asher (2.5). Asher loved pointing out the different animals in the tree, finding where they moved to in the tree, and helping to count.
Brynn loved all these things too, of course, but she also was drawn to the sweet illustrations (by the talented Bailey Beougher) and the overall story. We talked about what was happening as more animals joined in the tree and what it means to share.
In a world that is overloaded with choices in the children’s literature department, I love that every single one of Maria’s books, including My Big Tree, offers an entertaining story with some wonderful life lessons too – in this case, sharing! (One that we struggle with as Asher wants more and more of Brynn’s stuff!)
This sweet story would make a wonderful gift (Christmas *is* only 3 months away after all!) for any young boy or girl in your life!
BONUS! Be sure to check out Maria’s webpage for My Big Tree for some fun videos, too!
Thank you again to the amazingly talented Maria Ashworth! Brynn, Asher, and I are all so lucky to have been introduced to all of your books, including My Big Tree!
*I was allowed advance access to this book by the author herself, but this review is absolutely, 100% my own!*
