It’s Friday! And I’m blogging! Hooray! If that doesn’t make for happy Friday, I don’t know what does! 😉
Let’s jump right in shall we??
ONE. We desperately needed some new sheets for our bedroom. Typically I have gone to Kohl’s because of their great sales and coupons, and because I have really liked the quality of their Egyptian cotton sheets (that’s usually what I look for with sheets and not the thread count, since really, those numbers might be completely bunk if a manufacturer is testing to see if that number is correct). However, I was sort of tired of paying around $75 for a sheet set that only lasts a few years (ours keep getting holes all of a sudden!).
I was perusing the Target website one day and looked at their Threshold sheets. I had certainly seen them in stores during one of my 4 million trips to the store, but I had always wondered about the quality. Thank goodness for online reviews! The reviews were actually really great! They were on sale a little while back, so I picked up a set, and let’s just say I’m in love! They are super soft and have washed really well! We’ve only had them a few months, but these are definitely my new favorite sheets!
Plus I love all the fun patterns! I used to just buy plain colors – something fairly neutral like a very pale blue or a cream. I picked up this pattern first:
And I would love to get this pattern next (hopefully it won’t be too girly for the hubs)! Which I just may this week since they are on sale until today! So if you are in need of new sheets, definitely consider these – we love them!
TWO. I have decided I want to expand my baking skills – I’ve always liked baking cupcakes, and now that I pipe my own icing, it’s made it even more fun! But I have seen about 3 thousand videos on Facebook of (very talented) bakers decorating cakes, and I decided I really want to get better on making cakes.
I have always been a bit nervous to level a cake myself, just using a knife, so when I saw this cake leveler on Amazon for only $6, it was added to my cart in a flash! And for only a little over $2, I picked up a cake decorating comb & icing smoother, too! These are add-on items from Amazon, so sometimes I add to my cart and wait a bit, to see if the price drops. (You can always use CamelCamelCamel.com too, like I blogged about in my first Five on Friday post!) 😉
THREE. Now that it’s officially Spring (despite the fact that it snowed here today!), it means it’s time for rain boots and rain coats – for the kiddos, that is! If I’m being honest, I really hate buying this kind of stuff. Mainly because I feel like they barely wear it, and then, it sure ain’t cheap either! 😉
For the past couple years, we’ve gotten Brynn the crocs brand pull-on rain boots. We really love them! They’re much lighter weight and they’re super easy for her to pull on and take off. This year I bought them a couple sizes up so they last more than a year! They are hilariously big, but she can walk in them fine without them falling off.
However, I will say, they work great for her (and probably a lot of girls), because she always wears leggings or skinny jeans. I wanted to get Asher a pair, but I feel like they won’t fit very well with his jeans (plus he has chubby little feet, and the opening on these are a bit small).
Anyone have any good recommendations for boys rain boots? Asher is dying to go splash in some puddles! 🙂
FOUR. And because it’s good to balance out eating all those sweets with some exercise, I thought I would share some of the new workout gear I’m really loving. I know I blogged here (right before I went MIA!) about starting a BeachBody Facebook challenge group. Well, I’m just finishing up challenge #2, to start challenge #3 the day after Easter! I’ve really loved the routine I’ve been able to establish, so I’ll certainly be blogging about that separately in an upcoming post, but back to the fun part – shopping! 😉
I used to work out so infrequently I would just wear some old stretch pants (that typically were not so stretchy anymore!) and an old tee. Well, since I’ve literally worked out almost every day (except 4!) in the past 6 weeks, I thought I should invest in some other pieces. Plus, it helped that Old Navy was having a 40% sale and I had some rewards to use!
FIVE. I really need some new shows to watch, especially with summer coming up and most of my regulars going on hiatus. I’ve heard great things about the Big Little Lies show on HBO. I read the book by Liann Moriarty (anyone who has read my “currently reading” posts knows she’s one of my favorite authors, and Big Little Lies is absolutely one of her best!). So that is definitely on the list to binge, but other than that I’ve been coming up with nada.
I have actually been re-watching The Office series from the beginning because I love that show so much and it feels like it was a million years ago that it first aired.
Definitely hit me up in the comments if there is something that you love that I should check out!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! It’s finally supposed to dry out (and warm up!) here, so we will be taking advantage of every outdoor moment we can get!
