First, so sorry for the huge lapse in posts! Jeff went out of town this week for work and things were a bit…hectic. Thankfully he was able to be here for Halloween (but Asher had a huge meltdown over how his costume felt so just B and I hit the streets for some trick or treating).
Jeff took off Tuesday morning, and I was sort of nervous about handling the nighttime routine solo, just because I get home later than Jeff (and we each usually pick up one kid, since Asher is still at the at-home daycare, and Brynn is at a daycare with Pre-K). But I have to say, things were actually easier than I anticipated, especially the first night.
I successfully picked up both kids and got dinner made for the kids and me. That’s when I noticed it – Brynn’s eye looked funny. Sure enough, I looked closer – lots of gross junk, redness. It was pink eye. Ugh.
I called the doctor, and the nurse at the doctor’s office agreed it sounded like pink eye. So I texted the director of Brynn’s school to let them know she wouldn’t be in the next day, and then emailed my team to let them know I also wouldn’t be in the next day. #pinkeyeistheworst
Luckily my mom was able to come help for Thursday, when Brynn still couldn’t go to school, and I wasn’t really able to work from home/take a day off.
The real challenge was trying to ensure that Asher didn’t get it either (or me!). Flushing out Brynn’s eye multiple times a day was one time – at least she could be bribed with candy, right?? 😉 But Asher? Not only is he not really at the bribe-able age – he is super strong! I worried I wouldn’t be able to even hold him long enough to do anything! haha!
Knock on wood, but he still hasn’t caught it (yet??). Brynn went back to school on Friday, and Jeff came back that day, too (yay!). We were all super excited to have Daddy back home!
Too bad he leaves again Monday for a whole other week. 🙁
As long as we don’t have another super contagious virus in the house, though, I think we’ll muddle through! 😉
So sorry again for being MIA – I promise it won’t happen again! 😉
I have a few blog posts ready to go for this week, so be on the look out for new posts on holiday shopping (I actually started months ago, but I always save some purchases for this time of year for the great sales) and a birthday wish list for our almost-4-year-old! (How the heck did that happen??).
Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone! Enjoy your extra hour of sleep tonight!!
